> PRODUCTION from WOOD Wood is the most significant replenishable raw material. If forestry work is conducted with care, wood offers the advantage of a very low water consumption and space can be put to optimum use compared to other natural substances. This means that cellulose can be extracted with a high content and the minimum use of extraction agents.

information on this: Wood & Pulp
In the „Lyocell process“, which is named after the fibre itself, pure „wood pulp“ is physically dissolved for the first time and directly returned to fibre form using a simple method. The auxiliary substance used for this can be removed from the fibre with ease due to its good water mixing capacity, it is environmentally-friendly, bio-degradable and can be recovered by more than 99.6%.
Details on the Lyocell process
Thus the Lyocell process is in fact very nearly a closed loop process which means that it already fulfils what will be required of industry in the future. The European Union awarded this process the Environmental Award 2000 in the category "technology for sustainable developments".
