> LYOCELL- The natural fibre Lyocell is produced from cellulose, the main material in plant cells, and constitutes a new fibre for clothing, hygiene, medical and technical applications. The production process for Lyocell is extremely environmentally friendly – the fibre has all the advantages of a natural material and is 100% bio-degradable.
Via simple physical production steps it is guaranteed that the natural structure of Cellulose is not altered or influenced. This is the big difference between Lyocell and other man made fibers! For the very first time in fact we have a "natural man made cellulose", A NATURAL FIBRE produced by mankind in an environmentally-friendly process! Lyocell is a generic term for a new generation of fibers which means that it is standardised throughout the world, i.e. the fibre is subject to textile labelling regardless of the respective company brand. Therefore the term Lyocell has to be firmly stated on the textile label!!
Currently most wellknown brand name: Tencel ® Compared to cotton, the best known natural textile product, Lyocell requires wood as its raw material which is sustainable. Moreover Lyocell is a persuasive force with fibre and finished product properties similar to those of cotton and in some cases even superior.
When growing and processing wood to make fibres, the environment is treated with optimum care which makes Lyocell a forward-looking and cost-favourable option to cater for the increased demand for fibres in the decades to come.
